5 Ingredients to Pair With Matcha

Think matcha is just for lattes? While we love a delicious matcha latte to start our mornings, we also enjoy thinking outside the cup with these magical matcha pairings.

1. Lemon

Zesty and refreshing, lemon is great for detoxification and boosting your immune system. Better yet, adding a squeeze of lemon to your next cup of matcha can increase your body’s ability to absorb the antioxidants in your matcha! For a refreshing treat, try making matcha lemonade by combining freshly squeezed lemon juice with maple syrup, matcha (dissolve it in a few tbsp of hot water), cold water and ice.

2. Cashews

The silky smooth taste of high quality matcha pairs perfectly with the creaminess of cashewstry combining them as a filling for raw cheesecakes and slices, surrounded by an almond or walnut and date crust.

3. White chocolate

Take your chocolate to the next level by mixing in some matcha. The balanced flavour palate of matcha pairs well with the rich, subtle taste of white chocolate. For a delectable sweet treat or an interesting addition to dessert recipes, melt 100g white chocolate over a double boiler and stir in 1 tsp matcha powder. Transfer to a silicone chocolate tray and let cool until solid.

4. Avocado

Avocado and matcha are a match(a) made in heaven. The creaminess of avocado perfectly complements the complex yet subtle flavour of matcha. For a guilt-free dessert mousse, blend the flesh of 2 avocados with 1 tbsp matcha powder, ¼ cup coconut milk, ¼ cup maple syrup, and ½ tsp vanilla essence. Refrigerate for an hour to enhance the flavour and enjoy topped with fresh berries!

5. Protein powder

Elevate your protein shake by adding matcha for a mild caffeine boost along with your pre or post-workout protein fix. In a blender, combine your choice of milk, vanilla protein powder, matcha powder, vanilla essence, and avocado flesh for a keto-friendly, healthy start to the day!
